Jim Nader

I did the U of Michigan thing through 1994 and ended up with a double major in Economics and Sociology after starting out in Mechanical Engineering. Econ and Sociology sounded good at the the time, but school was just a means to an end for me and was fortunate that I didn't have to rely on my degree to get me a job.

Out of college, I worked for my Dad's business researching and selling automotive technologies. This job provided great experience, good contacts, and a fantastic opportunity to see my Dad in a professional setting. I learned a lot from him, helped him sell his business, and struck out on my own in 1998 when I joined CSM Worldwide. CSM was an automotive forecasting and advisory company headquartered in Northville with offices around the world. I was the 17th employee and really enjoyed growing with the company for 12 years before it was sold to IHS in 2010. IHS is a multi-industry information company providing analysis used in business planning. After the acquisition, I worked for IHS for five years, leaving in 2015 to join Up2Go International. Up2Go is a software company providing collaboration tools for automotive suppliers. Lots of fun and feels like the wave of the future.

On the non-work side, I've stayed close with Chuck Voss, Peter Strickfaden, Jeff Simpson, and Mike Tauber. It is amazing to have great friends that come from NF (and Warner Middle School in Tauber's case).

I had a bad car accident in 2001 that left my sister, Erica, paralyzed from the shoulders down. She continues to make progress toward a full recovery, but it hasn't been easy. Her work ethic is inspiring and she owns and operates a gym in Southfield to help other quad- and paraplegics work toward recovery.

In late 2006, I met the love of my life. We met at an automotive executive retreat in West Virginia, were engaged in the Mayan Riviera in Mexico, and were married September 2009. We live in Grosse Pointe Park with our parrot, Fenway.

Basically, I have great friends, a wonderful wife, and a job that I love. I know that things could have been much different in my life and feel fortunate, appreciative, and happy that things have worked out so well.
