Today's Featured Biography
Joseph (Albert) Archambault
Upon leaving school, I went to Canada for a time, as it was my native country. It wound up to be 14 years. Ten of those years was in the Royal Canadian Air Force where I was part of the Cold War for the length of my term. Much of the time was spent in isolated or semi-isolated stations in the--pretty far--north. Those stations were on what was called "The pinetree Line" Some of these units were in "Bush Country"---just above tree line. The different stations where I was sent were land fixed LRR stations. (Long Range Radar) One of those stations was 200 miles from the closest civilization. At these places, I was involved in the search, detection, and destruction of enemy aircraft. We were "visited" quite a few times by Russian aircraft. They would come across over the north to see what we were up to. Just eavesdropping I suppose, and we'd scramble fighters and chase them back home. In those days, these stations were secret locations. Remember, at that time, "The Russians were coming" I was also associated with the "Mid-Canada Line" and "The Dew Line" I also spent three years of my service time at Larson Air Force Base in the State of Washington. That was on a Semi Automatic Ground Environment unit.(SAGE) I have many fond memories of my service days. I was married in 1964 and, after being released from the military, moved back to Maine. I went to Federal Court in 1980 to be Naturalized as a U.S. citizen. My wife and I have two children--1 boy and 1 girl--and three grand-children,and one great-grandson. My oldest grandson is in the state of Nevada. At this time, my son and daughter live within a 2hr drive from us. There have been quite a few experiences since the service days, and I am now driving schoolbus for SAD#61 which covers Bridgton, Naples, Casco, and Sebago and have been doing that for the last 17 years. We have been living in Harrison, Maine for 38+ years. Looking back on all that has been accomplished, I would change nothing. It has all been a time of great experience and excitement and there is so much more that I want to do and look forward to.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
