Today's Featured Biography
Dana Gordon
I have been living in West Hartford Connecticut for the last 11 years running my own business. I took over my Dad's business in 1997 after he died. That was one of those junctures in life where I reassessed what was really important to me. What I concluded was life is too short to be miserable in corporate america, so I decided to run my own show. Sedgwick Cleaners, Inc has been a blast to run and once it was up and running well it allowed me the freedom to do many other community activities.
I met my wife Ria in 1988 right before our 10th reunion at my sister Gail's wedding. We really hit it off, climbed Halfdome in Yosemite National Park for our first date in September of that year and moved in together that December. We got married on 9/1/1991 on Lookout Mountain in Golden Colorado.
We had moved to Colorado in June of 1989, where we stayed until the move to Connecticut in 1997. One fateful day in the summer of 1994 we saw an article in the Denver Post about adopting baby girls from China. Well we were hooked and found ourselves traveling to Hangzhou, China in April of 1995 to adopt Maia Ying Gordon. It was truly an amazing experience, first off to travel to the Peoples Republic of China, but also to wake up one morning, go to an official office and have a 7 1/2 month old baby placed in your arms. All of a sudden you're a parent. It was lifechanging in an instant.
We enjoyed Maia so much that in October of 1997, Ria went back to Zhengiang China to adopt a sister for Maia. That is how AiLin Dawn Gordon became part of our family. I stayed at home with Maia and our 16 year old nephew/exchange student from the Netherlands, Gerrit.
We added Lani Cassandra Gordon(age 3) in 2000 when Ria decided we had adopted enough babies and it was a toddlers turn. So in August of 2000, Ria, Maia,AiLin and I traveled to Shaoguan, China to adopt Lani.
We completed the family with the adoption of Jay Zhengrong Gordon on Father's Day in 2002.Still the best present I have received for Father's Day
Today Maia is 18 and off to community college in the fall. Jay(17) and AiLin(16) are juniors and Lani(15) is a sophomore.
Life is crazy in the Gordon/VanHoof household, but we wouldn't have it any other way. I could tell stories forever, but just come to our next reunion and I will share those stories with you.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
