Hello SPHS Class of 1973 Classmates,
It has been 2 years since the SPHS 50th Reunion Weekend that we had at American Legion Post 175, the Elks Lodge 2482, and the picnic at Downs Park. Since that time I have held several multi-class reunions and talked with some of the Class of 73 attendees. Several wished we could meet sooner than our 55th reunion that will occur in 2028.
On September 20, I recently held a Falcons Return Event at Mikes Inland at Sunset Restaurant in Harundale and about 15 members from the Class of 73 attended. While talking with Alan Lang about the success of the September 20th function, he stated he regretted dropping the ball on planning a Class of 73 turns 70 years old picnic during the summer. I thought that was a great idea and that we could still host a 70th Year Birthday Bash. I talked with some other class of 73 members and they told me they were interested in this idea despite the last minute aspect.
I met with the Mikes Inland staff and they told me that they could host a Class of 1973 70th Birthday Bash on Saturday, October 25 from 1 to 5 pm. Please check your calendars and let Alan or Robyn know if you can attend. The event would be Pay-as-you go with a small cover charge of $10. With Pay as you go, each attendee can pick the drinks and meals of your liking. This concept worked well at the September 20 function.
When I was hired to do your 50th Reunion in 2022 by Stuart McGeady, I was excited to give you a 3-day weekend Memory Experience in 2023. It was a great time for all. I really appreciate all the nice things you said about the weekend and people are still talking about it.
So let's do the Class of 1973 70th Birthday Bash on Saturday, October 25 at Mike's Inland from 1 to 5 PM. I look forward to hearing from all very soon.

After graduation, I kinda bummed around for a while. Work a couple of jobs trying to decide what I really wanted to do. In 1976 I decided to move to South Carolina,(Spartanburg), I got a job welding at a rock drilling manufacturer. Worked there several years, during which time I became involved in the local volunteer fire department. I changed jobs to working in the maintenance department for Tindall Concrete Corp. where I stayed for 10 years as a maintenance welder. Also during this time I attended classes at the South Carolina Fire Academy and became a certified interior firefighter. I left Tindall and went to work for Hoechst Fibers Company in Spartanburg as an operator. My intention was to work into a maintenance position. The production operations worked a 4 day on and 4 day off schedule and after getting used to that, I decided to remain with the operations as that gave me time to be more involved in my fire department and to be able to further my craft as a firefighter. I eventually obtained my Firefighter II certification along with HazMat certifications, EMT certification, and several other firefighting certifications. Due to my 4 days on and 4 days off work schedule I became a paid part time Firefighter at my fire department. I finally retired from the fire service in 2020 after almost 43 years. I also retired from my full time job in 2021 and took up progressively bettering my hobby as a woodworker. So I currently spend my time building tables, cabinets, beds, and many other wood projects, as well as enjoying my grandchildren. (3)

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
