Today's Featured Biography
Norida Torriente
Wow are we really doing this reunion thing? It's hard to believe it's been two decades. I guess this is the part of the bio where I tell everyone how successful/rich/happy I am. Well, I am successful in that as a first generation American I've made my waiter father and grocery store clerk mother proud by not following in their footsteps and actually earning a college education and working as a professional. I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination but I have a job that I enjoy and is meaningful, a roof over my head, food on the table and the means to travel on occassion for pleasure. Happiness? I would say that I am content on most days, but I've lived through my share of heartaches. It's all part of the human experience.
The facts:
I've been married for over 15 years to a man I started dating my senior year of high school.
I earned a B.A. in English Lit at University of Maryland, College Park and a M.A. in Public Communications at American University in Washington, D.C.
Three months after earning the M.A. in 1998, I gave birth to my only son, Keller, making that event more fulfilling than earning the M.A.
I am in public relations and currently work at an association representing children's hospitals. I enjoy it immensely because I believe in the mission, my colleagues are great and it is about 30 minutes from home (a great commute for the Washington area). Over the past years, I've also done public relations on behalf of injury prevention, civil engineering, an engineering study on the collapse of the World Trade Center and Pentagon (see the Science and Tech did come in handy), and the ballon industry.
What I really live for:
My family, good wine, cigars, travel, book club, good friends, cooking, running, music, Latino pride, hanging out with my son.
This summer is a busy one for me: My baby sister is getting married, my husband turns 40 and I travel to Florida for a few weeks with the family. Hopefully none of these events will conflict with the celebration for the class of 1987.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
