Elizabeth Glover Porter

Hi Everyone! Let me give you a brief "Bio" of my life after graduating from FHHS in 1961. I attended Morgan State College in Balt.Md. from Sept. 1961 until June 4,1965. I received a BS degree in Elem. Education. On July 2, 1965 I signed a contract to teach in the Prince George's County Public School System. On Aug.14,1965, I married Robert Earl Porter and three years later, we were blessed to have a son (Kevin). He is my only child and I have one grandson who is also named Kevin,Jr., who is now 11 yrs. old. During the early years of teaching, I started working on my master's degree at the University of Md. but when I had my son, I then put that on the back burner for a while.
After my divorce and death of my husband, I persued a pass time passion of bowling. I bowled in 3-4 leagues a week in the evenings. I had my son bowling on Saturdays. He still bowls to this very day. A few years later while bowling, I met Ray who became my longtime companion of 21 yrs. He past away 4 yrs. ago, but I know that life goes on and that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". My faith has sustained me through many difficult times. I cherish the closeness of my sisters and brother as well as my church family. Oh, I forgot, I finally did earn my Masters degree in Leadership Education from AIU. I am still in the PG County School System and for the last 14 yrs., I have been an assistant principal in 2 schools (8 yrs. in Suitland High & 6 yrs. and currently at Charles Herbert Flowers High School). I like my job and I retired in June 2011. That is when my 10th grade class will graduate. It will be my 5th graduating class. I will often take off from work and go on a cruise at least once a year and visit Las Vegas at least twice a year. I am taking life each day as it comes. All is well right now.
