Today's Featured Biography
Fred Pace Dept
I am the business editor for The Register-Herald, Beckley, West Virginia's daily newspaper. It is the third largest newspaper in the state. I have been working in journalism since my days on the "Mainstream" which was the name of the Bladensburg High School newspaper in 1978-1980. I'm not sure if the school has kept that name for its newspaper. I have a college degree in accounting from Huntington Junior College in Huntington, WV. I moved to West Virignia in 1986 to take my first professional job in journalism as a sports reporter. For the last 20 years I have worked at several newspapers across the state and truly enjoy living in the mountains of West Virginia. I was married shortly after high school and had a daughter from that relationship, Navetta, who is now 25 years old and lives in Maryland near her mother, the former Teresa Callison, also a Bladensburg High School attendee from the Class of '81. Our marriage was short and I remarried another Maryland girl, Erika Leitch from Greenbelt, in 1986, shortly after moving to West Virginia. We had one son from this relationship, Donnie, who will be 18 in Oct. 2006 and will graduate from Marietta High School in Ohio. We divorced around 1993 and I remained single until Jan. 1997 when I married my current wife Jenny. We have been married for nearly 10 years and have a great relationship. We have no children. Since my father retired from the Metro bus and subway company about 8 years ago, I have not visited the Bladensburg area for many years. I was invited to the 20 year reunion, but could not make it due to work issues.
