Today's Featured Biography
Dr. Cynthia Jay
After B-CC, I went to U of MD to pursue my music studies, found myself back in dance and doing theatre. I did major course study in all three! I got married but it didn't last long. In 1986, I was primary care-giver to my mom who died of ovarian cancer that year. Then, off to do a Master of Music at Westminster Choir College in Princeton. Following my degree in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance, I taught at Westminster until the itch to get a doctorate took over. My DMA is in Voice and Opera Directing. I have done dozens of shows, both amateur and professional. I served as stage director, music director, choreographer, composer, accompanist ... you name it, and I did it! All the while conducting choirs and teaching private voice studio students. In 2002, Un of TX-El Paso called me to the southwest desert to build an opera program. They ended up not wanting one ... alas. But I have stayed here to enjoy the weather, the dry climate, the mountain climbing and a beautiful large home with a pool. I decided at age 45 to quit full time Performing Arts and begin a health consulting and fitness training business. I have combined my private studio (voice, piano, acting) with my life/fitness coaching to create THE PEAK OF BALANCE: Performance and Wellness Arts. I'm not married and have no children ... well, no children that I kept at home, at any rate. Hundreds of kids I've mentored! Unattached meant all my energy, which I still have in abundance, has gone to my teaching/coaching/mentoring. Now, I am my own boss and loving it! Give me a call! Shaklee products have turned my life around and I am now off all of the ashthma medications I've taken my whole life. I'm actually healthier than I've ever been now. Plus, at age 48, I still managed to climb the mountain and do a few cartwheels on the top for my birthday. What a gift to myself! LIFE IS GOOD!
