Today's Featured Biography
Brian Cowan
After Byrd, I made a tour of Southeast schools, finally graduating from Millsaps in 1984.
After six years as a real estate banker in Jackson, Mississippi, I found my way to Oxford Mississippi and Ole Miss Law School.
I left Oxford (kicking and screaming because it truly is the BEST place on Earth) to work for a large New Orleans based law firm, McGlinchey Stafford Lang. Having had enough of big firm life and after really getting into triathlons, I moved to Denver where I trained (and practiced law so I could eat). Loved Denver, but needed to get back to Shreveport to be closer to family and moved home in 1999.
A few years ago, while training on my bike for Ironman Florida, I was struck by a drunk driver in a truck. I took the brunt of the hit, but I gave a little back to the truck. Apparantly being more obsessive complusive than I realized, I ran a marathon a couple of months after I got off crutches and raced Ironman USA 10 months after the accident,
I had to some residual eye issues and could not practice law for a while, so I moved to St. Pete Florida and opened a high-end road and triathlon bike shop which I operated for a couple of years.
Back to Shreveport in 2005, got all fixed up and have been practicing law since. I am a partner at Bradley Murchison, a split off of Lemle & Kelleher. www.bradleyfirm.com
I have enjoyed being in Shreveport and would highly recommend it to anyone who might be toying with the idea of coming home.
