Craig Yarbrough
Howdy all!
After AHS, I moved to New Orleans to study classical guitar at UNO, graduating in 1993. My guitar adventures in life led me to Arizona State University, where I completed a master's degree in classical performance in 1997. During this time I realized that I am more of a desert rat than swamp rat, and spend as much time in the backcountry of the Grand Canyon as humanly possible. My "career" is simply what I am doing in between canyon walks...
In 1997 I moved to Flagstaff, a small town in Northern Arizona to be closer to the big ditch. I occupy my time (between Canyon walks) by playing and teaching guitar. I am currently teaching at Coconino Community College and privately. Most of my students are playing classical style, but I am happy to still have some rockers! I also concertize, and perform in less formal settings (weddings, a gypsy jazz trio (think Django Reinhardt), parties, and I am a "Therapeutic Musician" at the regional medical center, playing music to soothe and heal the sick). In 2002 I met my best friend and lifemate Diane, and we are enjoying our life livin' in sin. In 2003 I formed Grand Canyon Guitar Society, a not-for-profit arts group dedicated to classical guitar activities in Northern Arizona- our goal is to present some of the world's leading concert artists to the Flagstaff community in a concert and masterclass series. So far, we have hosted two Grammy winners amongst many other internationally known concert artists. It has truly been a blast to connect with some of my favorite guitarists out there. I feel very fortunate that the guitar has allowed me to avoid working for a living, since you really cannot consider playing guitar to be work!
I hope to make it for the 20year to reconnect with old friends!
