Today's Featured Biography
Carol Lathrop Pauls
I can’t believe it has been almost 20 years. I can’t be that old already. My new plan, I will keep telling myself you are only as old as you feel! We will see how long that works…hopefully at least another 20 years.
I currently live in Bloomfield NJ, which is approximately 30 minutes from New York City (depending on traffic-driving is CRAZY). We have basically lived here for about 13 years. I am what you might call a professional student. I completed my B.S. (not the B.S. you might be thinking) degree from Sterling College and my Master’s degree at Emporia State University. At this time, I am trying to complete my Dissertation for my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Seton Hall University. Over the last 10 years, I have worked as a psychotherapist in outpatient programs. However, two years ago I decided to try something different and now work as a Crisis Intervention Specialist in a psychiatric emergency room. I fell in love with the work. I have not only learned a lot from the Clients, but gained a tremendous amount of respect for them. I have also heard almost everything….try to surprise me.
One of the best decisions I have ever made was 14 years ago when I married my husband Mark. He is my best friend and greatest supporter. He works in the Big Apple (NYC) as an Internal Auditor. I have to say I am very proud of him, especially as a survivor of 9/11 World Trade Center (Tower I, 29th Floor). God really watched out for him that day. We have no children presently, just a spoiled cat.
Since graduation, it has been a long and exciting journey. There have been many good times and there have been some rough bumps along the way. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds.
Although I would really love to be there, I will be unable to attend our 20 year reunion this year. It is times like this you wish you lived closer. In reading profiles of classmates, I have to say I am very proud of all of you. You guys are amazing!!! By the way, if anyone is ever thinking about visiting New York City or the Tri-State area, let me know….perhaps we can help out. You are always welcome!
