Today's Featured Biography
Sandy Filis Sheppard
Bill and I met at Millikin Univ in Decatur the week before classes Sept '63. We just celebrated our 48th anniversary on June 19. Got my Masters in Library Science in '68 from U of I and thoroughly enjoyed a satisfying career as librarian which included Millikin, Lincoln Land Community College, getting RIF'ed, and landing at Lincoln Library of Springfield IL. Lots of editing, writing and teaching in LLCC's College for Kids Program. Started up my own publication, The Library-College Experimenter. Was president of Librarians for Social Responsibility, Illinois Association of College and Research Libraries, and served on the ILA board for years. I am loving retirement since 2008. Life Highlights include cherishing & wrangling the kids, five grandkids, and an array of cats towards and away from adulthood. Our two Maine Coons are especially cool! Days are filled with lots of golf (incl league statistician), birding, flower gardening, volunteering at the homeless shelters, church & cultural activities.
