Today's Featured Biography
Peter Stoecklin
After I graduated from Centralia Township High School in June 1961, I attended the US Military Academy at West Point, NY for one year. After serving my active duty obligation in the US Army, I attended the Centralia Junior College for two years. Subsequently, I attended and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois. I spent the summer after graduation as a camp councilor at a boy’s camp in Ontario, Canada. In August 1966, I was started my career with IBM in the Springfield Illinois Branch Office, Data Processing Division as a systems engineer. My initial assignments included systems engineering responsibilities for supporting all of the customers located in Quincy, Illinois. After ten years we relocated to Springfield, Illinois; my assignments included application support for finance and manufacturing customers. I was promoted to Senior Instructor at the St. Louis Customer Education Center. During that two year period, we lived in Highland Illinois and commuted to the IBM Customer Education Center in downtown St. Louis. I was promoted to Systems Engineering Manager in Kingsport, Tennessee; I managed the technical support for the largest single employer in Tennessee and many other diverse firms including a nuclear processing plant. My last IBM assignments included responsibility for software and services sales for the Tallahassee Florida Branch Office. I accepted an offer of bride to retirement after twenty-five years of service with IBM. After leaving IBM, I was employed as a software designer for MSD, a local software development firm. After five years with MSD, I became a partner and vice president with responsible for sales and marketing. Our firm, Marquis Software Development, specializes in corrections (prison, parole and probation) applications. Marquis has been very successful in the marketplace; most recently we were awarded the largest IT contact every in the history of corrections industry by the California Dept of Correction to implement our offender management information system.
I meet my wife, Sara, at an IBM training class in Chicago in the fall of 1967. At that time the John Hancock Building was being built; we had our first social contact on a double date at the new Playboy Club. We were married a year later in Montgomery Alabama. Over the course of our forty plus years together we have lived in five cities; we now make our home in Tallahassee. Sara was employed by the Montgomery Alabama IBM Branch Office as a systems engineer. She left IBM due to the very restrictive employment policy at the time. She had a career working for various customers as a software developer. Sara later became a university professor after earning a master’s degree from East Tennessee State University and a doctorate degree from Florida State University.
Sara and I raised four daughters including one set of identical twin girls. We currently have five grandchildren that range in age from a few months to seven years. I enjoy fly fishing for salmon in Alaska, rainbow trout in Montana, walleyes in Canada, and redfish on the Florida Gulf Coast. I recently started playing golf as a pastime but fishing is my primary sport. Recently, Don Hurst and I reconnected; we will be on the Sutton River next summer for ten days fishing for sea run brook trout. Our take out location is Polar Bear Park, Hudson Bay. I plan to fully retire from Marquis this January. Sara and I plan to stay active with family and travel. I plan to fish and golf. Plans also include other activities as necessary to keep everything running smoothly, and maintain good health. We both plan to continue to be creative, productive, enjoy our family and have fun along the way.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
