Hold in Remembrance
(A poem composed for a reunion of the A Cappella Choir in July 2000)
Hold in remembrance days of yesteryear,
when friendships firm were formed that lasted long,
enduring through the decades like a song
that never ends. And though we loose a tear
for those whose song has ended, we sing on,
since memory is our Creator's gift
enabling those who've passed beyond to lift
their voices with our own. And each day's dawn
reminds us that a future yet awaits
the voice of children's children, and the rich
report of deeds and dreams accomplished, which
the cadence of our song anticipates.
Hold in remembrance now, in every hopeful way,
those days of yesteryear, those years of yesterday.

Today's Featured Biography
Judy Stern Markowitz
(this info last updated march 30, 2017 by judy's son scott harrison)
my mom has dementia. after 20 years living in las vegas, i moved home to bloomington in june 2014 to live with my mom and help her. she is doing great physically, but has zero short term memory and no longer drives or goes anywhere alone. we welcome her former classmates over for lunch or dinner anytime, our treat. you can reach her through me... email: [email protected] / ph # 309 212 1005 I cannot figure out how to upload a new photo of her. if anyone wants to see what she looks like now, please email me.
this is what my mom originally wrote on here a few years ago about her life after bhs:
After graduating BHS, I went to Northwestern U. where I graduated in 1960. The next 7 years I spent teaching 1st grade in Boston and Chicago, where I married my first husband, Ed Harrison, in 1965. We moved to Bloomington in 1967 and divorced in 1972. In 1975 I married atty. Bob Markowitz (who died in 2007.) I worked as promotion coordinator at WJBC Radio from 1982-1992, served on the Bloomington City Council as an alderman from 1989- til I was elected Mayor in 1997. I served 2 four-year terms as Bloomington's 52nd (& first female) Mayor.
My younger son Scott lives with me in Bloomington, my older son Ian lives in Henderson NV.
I continue to have a very positive mental attitude, and am a breast cancer survivor (2009 surgery.) Life is GOOD!!!

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
