Keith Brown
After graduating from Twin Falls High School, I continued to work for our "family-ran" retail store, Claude Brown's Home Furnishings. I installed carpet, started the carpet cleaning department, and delved into the position as one of the floor managers. I went to the College of Southern Idaho (CSI), Brigham Young University (BYU), and Brigham Young University in Hawaii (BYU-H). I also went on a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, England Manchester Mission. This led to becoming a bishop for our church years later.
After I married Debbie Newell (TFHS class of '74), we settled in Twin Falls and raised a family of five children. Debbie and I also have 12 grandchildren, six boys and six girls. We wonder which one of our children will break the tie. Our firstborn, Steven, is working as a Chevron manager for the Salt Lake City Oil Refinery. He and his wife of four children enjoy camping, gardening, and doing the activities that Debbie and I did at their age. Our second child, Jenny, home schools her brood of five children, manages the home finances and her husband's endodontic office, and was the Relief Society President for the church. They live in Redding, California. Our third child, Lindsey, is a Physician's Assistant. She and her husband have three children. They live in the sunny San Diego, California area enjoying surfing and managing an acreage of land. Our fourth child, Chelsey, runs the endodontic office for our daughter Jenny's husband. Chelsey enjoys kayaking, swimming, boating, and fishing trips together with her 'Redding family.' She recently bought her first home as a single workaholic. Our fifth child, Kevin, just graduated from dental school and will practice for Comfort Dental in Fort Collins, Colorado. He and his wife will continue to share the ski resorts.
High school started my interest in playing band instruments. I began playing the baritone for the CSI Pep Band and the CSI Concert Band, 14 years after graduation. I still continue to play for the CSI Concert Band.
Debbie and I have found the travel bug since we both have retired. We have traveled to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Dubai, Italy, Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Mexico, and many states within the US. We have a trip planned to visit the British Isles this summer and a trip to China next year. Along with following our grandchildren to gymnastic meets, dance recitals, church events, birthday parties, this has been our life. We do continue to ride horses, play "snowbird" in Yuma, Arizona, peddle our e-bikes to many bike paths and adventurous trails (including the Hiawatha), snow ski, and herd cattle to our various fields. We bought Debbie's parent's ranch in 1990; so, I learned to drive a tractor, fix fencing, irrigate, and became a "farm boy."
We plan to stay healthy for future international trips, for our grandchildren's graduations, for ranch-life, and for more class of '74 reunions.
