Today's Featured Biography
David Sabin
I joined the Navy in September of 1989 and started boot camp followed by 'Machinist Mate "A" School', then Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida.
After NPS, I married Amy on November 2nd, 1990. We moved to Idaho Falls, ID and I started Nuclear Prototype Training at the Idaho National Engineering Labs. I then completed Engineering Laboratory Technician school.
I reported to the USS Nimitz in August of 1991. Our son Dylan was born in May of 1992 while we were at Bremerton, WA. I spent 3 years on the Nimitz making numerous trips around the world and a 6 month deployment to the Middle East, I was able to take a transfer to another ship. I was transferred for 6 weeks to Radiological Controlled Maintenance School in Charleston, SC.
My new ship in Alameda, CA was the USS Samuel Gompers. While we were in California, our son Logan was born in July of 1995. I spent a year on the ship and again had to endure another WestPac followed up by a trip from the west coast to the east coast through the Panama Canal & we decommissioned the ship in August of 1995 at Norfolk, VA.
With the ship decommissioned, I was then able to get a shore command next which was great. I spent 3 years at Trident Refit Facility near Silverdale, WA working on various subs doing overhauls and maintenance when they were in port. I worked with Puget Sound Naval Shipyards as well.
After my time at TRF Bangor, it was time to decide if I wanted to re-enlist and spend more time out to sea or to get out of the Navy and find a different job. It wasn't a difficult decision!
I chose Wisconsin Public Service, they had a nice little place called the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant about 30 minutes from Green Bay, WI and it just seemed like a perfect fit for us.
I started working at KNPP in August of 1998 and immediately began training to become an Operator at the plant.
I applied for my current job as a Radiation Technologist in February of 2001 and actually started working in the department in July of 2001.
Amy works for the Green Bay Public Schools system. She has worked for them for the past 6 years and really enjoys her job.
Dylan is now 17 years old and has graduated from high school! Hard to believe that he is done with high school already!
Logan is almost 14 years old and will be in 9th grade next year - they definitely grow up too fast!
We continue to enjoy our time here in Green Bay, watch the Packers every time they play, go to a few games every year at Lambeau if possible - no matter how bad or well they play - it just doesn't matter!
Feel free to email me and catch up if you have time.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
