Today's Featured Biography
Christine Somers McElmeel
Hi everyone!! Seems like just yesterday that we graduated together...okay, maybe more like a few yesterdays ago--but definitely NOT 20 years ago!! I am currently in the mom-as-chauffeur phase of life as I am a HS math teacher on summer break, spending most of my days and early evenings shuttling kids to tennis, soccer, basketball, scouts, the library, everywhere!!!
I am excited to read everyone's profiles on this website and to see what we've all been up to. As you might guess, I see Colene occasionally, but I rarely get to see anyone else from our class--that will explain the huge hug I've either greeted you with or hope to greet you with soon.
The weekend of August 10th and 11th is about the only weekend of the summer that I have something already set in stone on the calendar--unfortunately, my mom is unwilling to change her upcoming wedding date to another weekend. I really don't understand why not, ha ha! Some of you probably know my dad passed away suddenly in November of 2000. Well, my mom has been dating a wonderful man for the past 2 years, and he popped the question this spring. So guess where that leaves me--not at the reunion, because my mom's house is in Wausau, Wisconsin--not a quick commute to the parties in Lisbon. I am really happy for my mom's happiness, but really disappointed that I won't see you all. However, I am willing to host a 21-year reunion (seriously) next summer over here in Rockford for those people who would care to road trip to Illinois.
Must go for now--soccer practice awaits!!
