Today's Featured Biography
Amy Rigdon Williams
After high school I attended college at Kennesaw State University. It took me seven years and three major changes, but I ended up with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I substitute taught for one year, then taught 4th grade in Paulding County for three years before I had my first child.
I met Kyle Williams when I was in the 10th grade at SCH and couldn't resist him, his '68 Camaro, or his 18-year old charm, complete with Taco Bell and arcade dates. We dated off and on (mostly on) for 8 years, and got married in December of 1989. He's my best friend and a super good husband and father.
We were married for five years before having our first child, a boy. Oliver rocked my world and I decided I didn't want to go back to work. At all. Fortunately I haven't had to, and I had three more babies--all boys. Sam, Owen and Milo were added to the mix and made everything even more fun and crazy.
My passions became anything involving motherhood. I started attending a group called La Leche League, and I eventually became an LLL Leader. That simply meant that I led monthly meetings to help new moms get the hang of breastfeeding and I took phone calls from desperate new moms in need of support and/or information. Another interest and passion of mine is birth, homebirth in particular. I'd like to become a doula at some point because even though my youngest is 4 years old, I'm still quite interested in birth and supporting women in labor.
Currently, I homeschool my youngest three boys and Oliver is in 7th grade at a local school. Like any other parent, I spend my time taking care of the house and the kids, doing errands, and transporting the kids to their various classes, play dates, sports activities and lessons. It's a happy time in my life and I know I'll miss it terribly as they get older and move on to bigger and better things.
The things I do "just for me" include watching movies with Kyle after the kids are in bed, reading, and having lots of nights out with friends.
