Today's Featured Biography
Gloria Jones Taylor
After reading so many of my classmates bio's, i decided I needed to update mine! My life has been pretty textbook after high school in many ways and in others such a departure from the expected. I dutifully enrolled in then Augusta College the Fall of 1979 and graduated on time in June 1983 with a BA in Sociology and minor in Social Work. I lived at home duing this time and worked at Belk Regeny Mall in the office. Those were years of great personal growth for me. I loved college although now I somewhat regret not having the going away to college experience. I then enrolled in graduate school at USC in Columbia and received a Master of Social Work degree in August 1985. Again, lived at home, worked at Belk and commuted to Columbia for two years. Got engaged to a wonderful man I met at church/AC and was married March 1986. Worked in community mental health and at University Hospital before we moved to Columbus, GA. It was there I truly grew up living farther than a couple of miles from my parents for the first time! I found my passion in nephrology/dislysis. We returned to Augusta in Oct. 1989 for me to take a dialysis social worker job at MCG. Spent twelve wonderful years there and truly experienced my greatest blessing, the birth of my only child, Rachel Olivia. We moved again to Savannah, GA in 2001 where I continued to work in dialysis. Proving that there is no place like home, we returned again to Augusta for me to take a job with MCGHI as a transplant social worker in Dec 2003 where I remain today.
our lives changed forever when our precious daughter was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor in 2004 when she was a mere 6 years old. She is a beautiful, smart senior at Georgia Southern University who is my hero! she amazes us daily with her strength, courage and intelligence. She is a miracle and blesses us daily with her life. It is fun to reconnect with old friends thru this site and facebook. My hope is to reconnect with many more at our reunion. Thanks to Shawn, Lisa, Roxane, Evelyn, Mary and others who made my high school years fun. i tell Rachel all the time I hope she will be as lucky as me and will find kind, decent lifelong friends like I have. Apologies to my classmates for the length of this and the philosophical reflections!

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
