After graduating from good ole TLHS I spent a year and half at PBJC while lifeguarding at Lake Lytle pool. Now that was a great job (money for nothing and chicks for free). My family moved north to Ocala in January ’79 and it seemed like a good idea to go with them. I finished community college there then transferred to UF to study (yes I did study some) forestry and natural resource conservation. I loved forestry but while there an angel told me to go to seminary. Actually it was a fellow student by the name of Angel Suarez. Never-the-less I listened.

I did a year of church work to get my feet wet and then off to seminary in Jackson, MS. While in seminary I did youth work in the booming metropolis of Yazoo City, MS. I don’t think they were ready for a long haired, cut-off wearing Florida boy.

After seminary I moved to Memphis to do more church work hoping to continue studying (there’s that word again). When the church kicked me out I decided to spend 3 years studying philosophy. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Toward the end of that time (Dec. 90) I got married.

Though kids are not inevitable with marriage they seemed so to me. The first (a boy) came in ’95. A wild hair sent us to southern California for a couple of years. While there two more boys came (’97 and ’99). Life in California didn’t work out the way we planned. Actually we didn’t plan, we just went. So we returned to Memphis where I found work in computer training. Not bad considering I knew nothing about computers. Through that job I got into finance and then IT in the banking industry. And… you guessed it (OK maybe you didn’t guess)… more babies. Two more boys in ’01 and ’04. Then just to shake up the male motif God sent us a girl in ’06. She is tougher than the boys only cuter.

I left banking to find work with a logistics firm, which is where I am today. My wife stays busy home schooling the bunch. And I stay at work not to get caught up in the craziness at home. When my mom is done with her house in Ocala I plan to inherit it where I hope to hang a genuine ‘Carpentier’ in the main room. It isn’t WPB but it is within striking distance.
