Today's Featured Biography
Noah Powers
I am proud to be a multi-generation native of Ft. Myers / Lee County. My wife Jill and I have 4 grown children and 3 grandchildren. We spend the majority of our time in Vero Beach because it is closer to our family in Indian River, Lee, Glades and Pasco Counties, than our house in Tallahassee.
After graduating from North, I attended a technical school in Jacksonville. Shortly after graduating, I joined the United States Air Force (1966 – 1970).
Subsequently, I returned to Ft. Myers and began working with the Lee County School Board, beginning as a property inventory clerk and working my way up to Assistant Director of Finance, while attending Edison (AA in Business Administration) and the University of South Florida, (BA in Finance).
An opportunity to work for an outdoor wildlife television production company beckoned me to Ocala. That company produced two nationally syndicated television shows; “Sports Afield” and “The Coors Western Outdoorsman”. I had an opportunity to meet and work with actor Ron Hayes, who you may remember was the star of the Everglades television show that aired in 1961-62. I returned to the educational arena as the Internal Auditor for the Marion County Schools Board and while there earned my MA in Education from the University of South Florida.
Through promotions and selective career changes, I became Assistant Superintendent of Finance, Operations and Business in several school districts. We moved to Tallahassee when I was selected as Bureau Chief of Student Financial Aid for the Florida Department of Education where I was responsible for implementing Florida’s lottery funded “Bright Futures Scholarship Program”. Later in Tallahassee, I served as Assistant Secretary for Administration for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
During more than 35 years in public school districts and State Government, I was an officer or member of many State Associations, Boards and Councils. I was also on many local Boards and Organizations….. Then I retired!
My wife, Jill always wanted to have a business where she could provide the kind of customer service that we believed everyone liked and wanted. With that in mind, we purchased an upscale flower shop in downtown Ft. Pierce, Florida. Jill did an excellent job growing our 77 year old business and providing the quality customer serve we believe in. I tried to stay out of her way.
Currently, I’m a member of the Finance Commission for the City of Vero Beach and a Board Member with our Condominium Association.
In May 2014, I was honored to be inducted into the “Lee County Athletic Conference Hall of Fame”.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
