Today's Featured Biography
Wendy Cudmore
I graduated from Skidmore College with a B.A. in Government and a teaching certificate in secondary education, then earned a Master's degree in American Studies at Fairfield University. I taught in Weston, CT for 34 years, mostly at the HS level. I chaired 2 10-year evaluations for WHS, and was the primary author of a Blue Ribbon School application, which won WHS Blue Ribbon recognition (top 1% of secondary schools in the US) from the US Dept. of Education. I was Weston's teacher of the Year and first runner up for CT's Teacher of the year. I retired from Weston in 2005. Then I taught at Darien HS for 10 years as a part-time teacher and retired from Darien in June, 2016.
Currently I live with my dog, Abby, a Golden Retriever/Basset Hound mix. (She looks like a Golden with short legs!) I am very active in my church, having served for 6 years as a Warden (lay leaders of the church), 3 years on the Vestry (governing board), chaired the Discernment Team that wrote the parish profile to attract a new Rector (senior priest), and co-chaired the Every Member Canvass twice (method of raising money from parishioners), among other things!
My avocation is singing. I am a member of Harmony on the Sound Chorus (HOTS), part of Sweet Adelines International, women's barbershop. I am Lead Section Coach, part of the Vocal Team, the Hub (musical leadership team), the recording team, and the warm-up team. We just returned from the International Competition in Las Vegas. I also sing Lead in a barbershop quartet called Ripchords. We compete regionally.
