Today's Featured Biography
Jacqueline Krawczyk Segura
Hello All,
After graduating from Wasson, I attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where I was able to continue with speech and debate, and obtain a BS in Philosophy.
In 1989, between my sophomore and junior year, I traveled to Amberg Germany, where my father was stationed for the US Army, and met my wonderful husband, Michael. After two and half years of a long distant relationship, we were married outside of Glenwood Springs, in a town called Redstone.
After I finished school, we moved back to Denver where our daughters, Morgaine (1992) and Bronte (1998) were born.
In 1998, Michael accepted a position at a small start up retail company called Build-a-Bear workshop which prompted us to move to St. Louis, MO.
In 2001, we adopted our two sons, Romeo (1997) and Diamond (1997) through the foster care system in St. Louis. Since that time, I have learned the joys of raising "Irish Triplets" with all three of my younger children being born within 12 months of one another. We have vetted every teacher at any school they have attended!
From a professional perspective I have stayed very close to the retail roots I established working at the Citadel throughout high school. Mark Henri allowed me to transfer to their Salt Lake City store where I worked while in college. I was able to do lots of various jobs for them from sales, to shipping and receiving, and visual merchandising, and ultimately district management. Once Morgaine was born, I took a job at a small store in Littleton, Compleat Gourmet. It was there that I had my first introduction to retail management systems. After completely their installation and training, I went to work for the software vendor, ARM Systems, in Littleton in 1994.
I worked at ARM for seven years, helping over 300 companies make the transition to computerized sales and inventory control. I am certain I learned more from my clients than they learned from me, and have been fortunate enough to have opportunities to leverage that education. ARM allowed me to transition to a "virtual" office, working from home after our move to St. Louis, in 1998. I haven't had to commute to work since!
In 2001, I worked with five clients on transitioning their business to the new world of e-commerce. In doing so, I was introduced to an e-commerce development platform hosted and produced by Rochester, NY based UniteU Technologies. After working collaboratively for about a year, UniteU offered me a position consulting brick and mortar retailers on the transition to and management of an ecommerce business.
Since that time in 2002 I have learned more than I ever really wanted to know about technology and the software development process, but I am so proud of the solutions I have been able to help our team engineer for our 200+ merchants.
In 2011, I was promoted to the role of Vice President of Merchant Solutions in the capacity of which I manage our consulting, technical delivery, data services and support teams. While my direct time with clients is much less than it has ever been, I am enjoying mentoring and developing a team of young IT professionals.
I have to admit that I am awful at keeping in touch with classmates, and lost touch with everyone until a couple of years ago via Facebook. Since that time I have enjoyed catching up with Marissa, Michelle V, Michelle P, Shawn, and especially Nohr, who I consider my "resident" scientist- always there with answers to the tricky questions I can't figure out (ie why is salt used to both melt things and help them freeze????).
I am planning on attending our 25th reunion and hope to be able to re-engage and catch up with even more of you. Especially Mike Bonato, who will be thrilled to hear that "Bonato's Theorem", conceived in Mr. Yost's chem class, continues to bring joy today to the brilliant technical people that I work with.
Jacqui
