Today's Featured Biography
Wallace White
I left BHS after my junior year to attend prep school at Kentucky Military Institute in Lyndon,Ky for my senior year. After graduation, I attended Colorado State University, taking five years to graduate due to a short transfer to CU for a semester. Went to Germany and attended language school near Munich and then the University of Vienna and University of Graz in Austria. Went to graduate school at ThunderBird School of Global Management and back to CSU for another year.
All this education allowed me to avoid military service until I turned 26. I spent the next several years hitchhiking across Europe and No.Africa and ended up driving an old VW bus to India.........spent the better part of the next 8 years in Central Asia. Developed an import business specializing in tribal carpets from Iran & Afghanistan as well as antique jewelry. Got married to a lady from New Jersey while in Kabul and returned to Niwot a year later.(1978) Two beautiful girls were produced in this marriage. Oldest daughter, Kaiya married last week here in Durango, she now(late 2011)has a five month old son named Dylan. Youngest, Sheila, married and living in Fairbanks, AK, Granddaughter, 2yrs, Bella Rio and 6 mo old granddaughter named Tegan.
After spending a year attending and teaching at a horse shoeing school in Littleton, I moved to Durango (1979). Divorced in 86. Got into the llama business and then alpacas for awhile. For some reason, decided to go into politics in 04 and am in my second term as county commissioner. As of January, 2014, I have been retired for a year and spend time working on the farm and house. Remarried last year and spent a six week honeymoon in Europe (Austrian & Slovenian Alps, canal boating in France). Looking forward to more travel and river rafting here in the SouthWest.
