Today's Featured Biography
Karena Nelson Schellpeper
Well, I can best describe my experiences since H.S. as 'schizophrenic'! I went to C.U. Boulder for my undergrad, got degrees in Biology and Secondary Education, and taught middle school science at Oberon for four years. I received a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University in 1996. After getting burnt out on teaching, I took to the skies working for Delta Air Lines for another four years, living in Boston, Orlando, Nashville (pursuing a recording career - and figuring out that I really didn't want one after all!), then relocating back to Colorado, my true home! I'll never leave again.
After leaving Delta I took a recruiting position with Medical Express (a healthcare staffing company) in 2000, where I am now a recruitment manager. I married my husband in September of 2002 (much to the relief of my impatient family, all "wannabe grandparents") and soon embarked on my most important "career" to date - parenting! We had our first daughter, outgoing and precocious Anna, in November of 2003. She talks non-stop and keeps us laughing! Molly was born just last December and is the definition of "bundle of joy," always smiling and practically bursting out of her skin with delight.
Throughout the changes over the years, music has remained a steadfast passion of mine. Since giving up the professional music pursuit, I have been singing with the worship team at my church for the past seven years.
I know all of you have had adventures of your own, and I look forward to catching up with many of you soon!
