Today's Featured Biography

Gregory Stanley

I live in Littleton, with my wife and two daughters.

After graduating high school in 1983, I pretty much became a lost soul, not knowing what I wanted to do, or where I wanted to go. I wanted to be an artist, but, in order to make any money at it you had to be famous, or dead. I was neither. I did take a specialty course at one of those schools that you see advertised on TV during the day. I took Advertising Design and Computer Graphics, and loved it!

I bounced around for about six years while working pretty steadily at a warehouse in Aurora, but still could not find that little nitch for myself. In the mid 80s, my Aunt and Uncle moved from New York City to Los Angeles, and my Uncle told me that he could get me a position in a security firm if I wanted one. Beaches, sun and sand! SOLD! I would also be able to expand my horizons as a graphic artist. I moved out there in November of 1989.

While I was there I started attending the local community college in Advertising Design, finally finding something that really interested me. That lasted about a semester before I ended up getting laid off and have to leave due to financial issues. In fact, I was laid off or had quit every job I held in Los Angeles. I had 14 jobs in four years; I did everything from driving a taxi to selling encyclopedias door to door. Four years later, I came back home with my tail between my legs, having to ask my parents for a handout and a place to stay.

Los Angeles did not really teach me much other than how to survive, and gave me the street smarts that I needed to exist. But I had resumed what I had when I lived in Denver before, being lost, going from job to job.

I moved back to the Denver area in 1994, did odd jobs here and there, most exciting of which was being an extra in two movies that were filmed in the Denver area that summer and Georgetown that winter.

In early 1996 I met what I thought was the woman of my dreams. My life was beginning to look up again, and we had planned on getting married. Then one day she came along and kicked the ladder out from under me. It was another woman who ended up saving my life. It has been 16 years now and we are still happily married after 15 years.

Marrying Yvonne was the best thing that ever happened to me. Since we have been married, Ive kept one job, adopted my wifes daughter, and had two daughters of our own.

I have worked with Comcast for 17 years as a CCT4, but I am currently looking to advance upwards in my career. I have previously enrolled and completed six courses in Broadband Technology and three courses in Business Management through NCTI, as well as earning my BBA in General Studies at Jones International University (Magna Cum Laude).

In the remaining spare time I have left I still enjoy drawing and painting, writing, and surfing the internet. I also enjoy going to the movies, watching TV, and spending time with my wife and two girls. What time I have left I try to keep my home inspection business going.
