I headed for Cal State Northridge after departing the hallowed halls of W.H. Taft. Drawing something like 320 in the draft lottery left me free to continue with my higher education. At CSUN I discovered that acting/directing was taken a great deal more seriously than I had ever considered it during my Thespian years at Taft. I stayed with the Theater degree, but refocused my energy in the technical and design areas. It was great to be able to work with a few Taft Alumni like the Stanton’s. During those years I was fortunate enough to be mentored by a terrific scenic artist who taught me skills that have served me well for many years.
After CSUN, I made the decision to head east to Dallas to continue my education and received my MFA at SMU, one of the top theatrical design schools in the country at that time. Afterwards, I continued down the career path I started so many years ago, working in theater, dance, opera, film, television and even theme parks. It didn’t take long before I figured out that the relatively new field of corporate meetings and events offered greater opportunities. This choice has taken me all over the country and the world, and given me the chance to work with some amazing people. A number of years and clients eventually led me to owning my own “boutique” production company here in Dallas. I love what I do, and look forward to going to work every day.
So here I am in Dallas. I never intended to stay, but it’s been a good place to hang for lo these many years. And there is an airport that gets me to anywhere in the world I want or need to be. I share an in-town townhome with my wife, best friend and soul mate, a manic dog (who is 65 pounds of deadweight on my lap as I type) and two cats.
In what free time I have I ride a BMW motorcycle, do glass lampwork beads and love to travel with my wife, Kim, search for great wine and cook. Last year we did Kenya for yet another trip of a lifetime. Of course there is nothing like starting a business to shift focus away from everything else!
My family moved out of the Valley shortly after I did, and for years I had no real need to return. Coincidentally, several years ago one of my best friends from Dallas moved to LA and bought a house up in the hills above WHTHS. Every time I visit him I drive by the high school and smile. When did it get so much smaller than the huge institution I remembered?
I wish great things to all my Taft friends and teachers. Thank you for the foundation you provided.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
