Today's Featured Biography
Stan Bolton Bolton
On graduation day in Walnut Creek fifty years ago I suspect none of us were pondering what we would be doing a half century beyond. But here we are at that milestone in our lives, who would have ever thought.
We were all so fortunate to grow up in Contra Costa county in the 60s and 70s. At times it seemed challenging, but how I long for that period of life. I look back with fond memories and also melancholy of a time gone by, and with so many no longer in my life.
With anticipation I planned to attend this reunion. I have not been back to the Bay Area since 1985, so I was due a visit. Since graduating from college somehow I just kept migrating eastward and now reside in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. My Forever home that I designed and planned is under construction and completion was guaranteed no later than the end of July. That hasn't quite worked out. Because I am currently knee deep in trying to bring this project to fruition, with great regrets I will not be able to attend the reunion. It has been a difficult decision to make.
I so much looked forward to talking with my classmates and learning of their life's journeys. We all started at the same spot, but have spread in so many directions and endeavors.
My passion remains in architecture, exploring, and cars of the 70s (go figure!).
Somehow I ended up in a career in accounting, and finally retired as a financial analyst with Paramount Pictures (LA) working remotely in Nashville.
After moving to the Berkshires I un-retired and now work in finance for a local theatrical production company.
Once the home is completed my intention is to split my year between my home in Stockbridge and also in Cullen, Scotland (no second home in Florida for me!).
My mother now resides close by, is 92, and as active and sharp as ever.
With a heavy heart I learned of those classmates that are no longer with us. Many were neighbors and friends who I had hoped to see.
Hats off to a very well organized reunion, and I wish all the best to all those from the graduating class of Del Valle, 1975!
