Tabitha Darter Trotter
I grew up in Tennessee, but knew I wanted to live in San Diego with my mother (my parents were divorced when I was 6, and I lived with my father). I left Tennessee in 10th grade, and attended Crawford. When we started 11th grade, I chose to move back to Tennessee. After only 8 months, I finally decided that San Diego was my home. I attended Crawford for 10th and 12th grades.
I met my husband on a blind date two months after graduation. A year later (August 1986), we were married in Balboa Park. We had our first child in December 1987, and our second in March 1989. Then the "fun" started...I became a surrogate, carrying babies for couples who were medically unable to carry their own. I gave birth to 6 children as a surrogate, then got a surprise when I learned I was pregnant with Emma in 2002. My childbirth history is:

In 1998, I learned I had a baseball-size brain tumor. It was removed successfully (leaving a true hole in my head!), and was not cancerous.
In 1994, I opened San Diego's first surrogacy agency. Several competitive surrogacy agencies opened in San Diego, but I was very proud to say mine was the largest. I chose to close my agency in 2001, but remain in close contact with many of the professionals I used in my agency.
I am now a doula (a professional childbirth coach), a Childbirth Educator, and am working on certification to be a Happiest Baby Educator.
I work part-time at EastLake Community Church in Chula Vista, as a Childcare Coordinator. I am responsible for childcare for over 500 children for our church's functions. I've gone from "making" babies, to "catching" babies, to "watching" babies! Just proves how scary I think grown-ups are!!
