Today's Featured Biography
Elyse Cohen Resch
After graduating from Dorsey, I went to UCLA, majored in Sociology and took courses in education. I married my first husband, Ron Resch, right out of college and lived in San Diego for three years, while he went to law school and I taught second grade.
I had my son, Michael, in 1971 and then went to graduate school to get an M.S. in Nutrition. I have been in private practice as a Nutrition Therapist/Registered Dietitan for 30 years, specializing in treating eating disorders and disordered eating. I am the co-author of Intuitive Eating, 1995, 2003, 2012 and the audio book Intuitive Eating, 2009.
Ron and I were married for 15 years but have regularly been in touch since our divorce. This has been very important, as Michael was diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was 19. He is a brilliant, gentle young man, who has suffered greatly for over 20 years. He lives in a very caring community in Santa Ana, that treats schizophrenia. I visit him several times a month, and we maintain a close relationship.
In 2003, I married Marc, who is a wonderful step-father to Michael. I feel very blessed to have his support, to have a thriving and successful career, and to be ablle to see Michael as often as possible. I am also very blessed to have wonderful friends in my life. My deepest sadness is Michael's illness and the fact that I do not have any grandchildren.
I love spending time with my friends, going to the theater and to movies. I love to read and travel and am very physically active.
I work many hours a week but love my work and don't ever intend to retire!!

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
