Today's Featured Biography
Kevin Matney
Greetings Class of 1988!
Writing this bio sure makes it seem like a long time from those fun Sonora days.
After graduating from Sonora, I headed to UCLA for my Bachelor's and Masters degrees in Materials Science and Engineering, avoiding life for as long as possible. I met my wife (a USC graduate!) during my first year of graduate school and was married while still in school in 1995.
In 1996 I took a job with a small UK-based company in Denver, Colorado, and have been there ever since. We make X-ray machines for the semiconductor fab industry. Our office has 8 people to service the entire US, so I travel quite a bit - around the country, and trips to Europe (mostly England) and the far east. Recently we were acquired by a company from Israel (based near Nazareth) so I travel there as well. I do a little bit of everything working for a small company, but main jobs are computer programming, sales support, scientific research, turn nuts and bolts, training, and whatever else needs doing.
We now have 3 kids and lead the typical crazy family life with a 9, 7 and 4 year old, a dog, 2 cats, and a frog. Maria was a full-time Mom for 6 years and then started to work part time to keep her sanity.
Life is great in Colorado, and I enjoy the outdoors: hiking , biking, dog walks, etc... I also still play a lot of tennis to keep healthy at my old age.
I really appreciate the positive feedback that I have recieved about this website and I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to sign up and participate. Thanks and Take care. -Kevin
