Today's Featured Biography
Elizabeth Newham
I thought it was about time that I finally add more details to my profile since the reunion is just around the corner!
After graduating from Westmont, I attended UCSB where I changed my major a few times before finding a true interest in Sociology. I graduated with Distinction (but I also enjoyed the beach and night life in IV & SB!), and then traveled throughout Europe the summer of 2000. After my travels, I ended up back in the area, and worked at a non-profit social service agency in downtown San Jose for two years before I started the part-time Master's of Social Work program at SJSU. In May of 2005, after juggling work, school and my internships, I completed my MSW program and soon starting working at a dialysis unit where I continue to work as a medical social worker. I truly enjoy my job and am pleased with my career choice. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful niece and nephew, hiking, reading, and planning my next (much needed) traveling adventure! I recently hiked into (and out of) the Grand Canyon through an endurance training and fundraising program of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I had a wonderful time, and it felt great to raise funds for such an important cause. I am currently planning to move (most likely to Seattle) within the next three to six months, and I look forward to the changes and adventures that my move will bring.
I hope more and more people respond to the evite within the next few days, and I am looking forward to seeing everyone in just a few weeks!
