Today's Featured Biography
Wendy Garrigues
Graduated in 2000 from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma Washinton with a BA double major in Int'l Political Science and English (writing).
Have been minister to children, youth, and college students at Free Church of the Annunciation in New Orleans for the past 5 years.
It is a little urban church that is on the way to becoming a huge urban church.
New Orleans is fascinating. I love it.
Survived Hurricane Katrina - lost nearly everything in my apartment due to roof damage and mold. The church was looted then flooded. Pretty exciting stuff really.
Now, things are better than ever:
Before the storm we had a church building, but now we have trailers, a relief center that runs out of our parking lot, work underway to open a genuine coffee shop in the center of campus, a college ministry centered around a bbq in the backyard, mission teams from around the country arriving week after week to help gut homes and minister to survivors, a mob of 30 school kids that come to play basketball on our campus every afternoon, and more. It is so much fun.
My new, non-moldy apartment has a great view of the sunset over the Mississippi River.
Every day I am blessed with meeting new and interesting people at the church. It is a thrill to go to work.
I am having the time of my life and have never been happier.
Oh well guess I wrote too much but it has been a busy year.
