Jim Clark
After High School I received a football scholarship to the U of A, where I quickly ended my football career with a knee injury during Spring training. I was singing the Blues so much that they offered me a scholarship to the School of Music so I would at least sing on pitch. In 1960 I received a scholarship to the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. In 1962 I quit music and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. and served with the 2nd Force Recon until 1965. I then received a scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music in NYC where I met my wife Suzanne. We were married in 1967 ...and still are.
I was lucky enough to sing with many Opera Companies and Symphonies in the U.S. and abroad before receiving a contract with the Metropolitan Opera Company where I sang lead baritone roles for about 10 yrs.
I have sung with the Opera Companies of San Frencisco, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Dallas, Portland, San Diego, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Atlanta, Cleveland, Seattle, Vancouver, Montreal, Palm Beach, Charlotte N.C., Connecticut, Columbus, Knoxville, Arizona, Anchorage, Dayton, Kentucky, Syracuse, Buffalo, Grand Rapids, Detroit, NYC Opera, Koln Germany, Mexico City, Tel Aviv, and with the Bulgarian Opera Company.
I sang at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Carmel Bach Festival, and with the symphonies of San Diego, Oakland, Memphis, Columbus, Winston-Salem, Utah, and Lima, Peru.
Singing has been "verry verry good to me". But now I am very happy to be living back here in Tucson.
