Today's Featured Biography
Harold Hicks Hicks
Update 2018: In 2008, I answered a request from a cousin to join some internet page called FaceBook. Being uninformed and ignorant of the growing phenomenon we now know as social media, I bit. And I'm glad I did. Used as a tool, I've managed to connect/re-connect with so many family members and friends that I otherwise couldn't have kept up with. I would call it a hobby...those that put up with my ramblings might say it's akin to pulling the wings off butterflies or dragging cats through knotholes.
I've been fortunate to have health good enough to continue working on a seasonal basis. I found early on in retirement that staying home everyday wouldn't work if either Susan or I were to stay out of jail for strangling the other. In 2011, I took a position with Scotts Miracle Gro as merchandiser ( a job that requires stacking boxes in such a manner they don't topple over on consumers).
Kids...Jeremy is lead tech for Archer's Advantage in Little Rock; Aaron has just taken on a new position with a company in NYC; Allison is a patrol sergeant for the Maumelle Police Dept.
Grandkids...Seth is 18 and about to graduate from Sylvan Hills... :( ...Becca is now 9 and found a new love in the form of soccer (dragging me along, kicking and screaming).
===========================================
After graduation, I took misguided advice and didn't pursue college. I instead opted for a job in retail with Weingarten's, Inc. and stayed with the chain for 12 years until a hostile buy out drained the assets and closed the company in November, 1981. In the meantime, Susan, my wife, took a position with Arkansas Children's Hospital. I had enrolled at UALR just prior to the closing and her work at ACH allowed me to work part time and go to school part time. However, the need to support my family won out and I dropped college for a position with Frito Lay North America in May 1984. It turned out to be the best opportunity/education I could have received. I began as a vacation extra, made regular salesperson in August 1984 and was promoted to District Manager in December 1989. I served in that position until I retired in March 2007.
Susan and I were married on June 8, 1973 and have 3 children, Jeremy, Aaron, and Allison. We have also been joyfully blessed with 2 grandchildren, Seth,9 and Rebecca,7 months. I am currently self employed and adjusting to the rigors of semi-retirement.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
