Today's Featured Biography
JAMES WALKER
After high school, I attended Wallace Selma for 2 years, as most of you already know. After receiving my associates, I moved to Orlando, Florida and worked at Disney World, Universal Studios, and the Marriot World Center. My original intention was to work the summer and enroll in the University of Central Florida in the fall.... However, things don't always turn out as we hoped. So I enlisted in the Navy and went to work at Microplastics in Mountain Home, AR; to be with my father, while I was in the Navy's delayed entry program. Then in January of 1994 I was shipped off to Great Lakes, IL where I spent 8 or 9 weeks of boot camp. During this time I was in the recruit drill team and was able to perform in 3 graduation ceremonies, one of which was in front of then Chief of Naval Operations: Admiral Boorda. At the conclusion of my boot camp I spent a very memorable 4 months in Memphis, TN for my air traffic control school. After that I was then assigned to my first permanent duty station: NAS Meridian, MS where I met my wife (Kim). I remained there from August of 1994 to November of 1997, where again I transfered, this time to NAS Pensacola, FL for a 6 week course in Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON). Then my wife and I were assigned to 5 years duty at NAS Brunswick, ME. I remained in Brunswick from January 1998 to Dec 2002. Both of my children where born in Maine. My Oldest (Shelby) was born in Portland,ME 2 1/2 months early. She weighed a whopping 2lbs 5 ozs. After 6 weeks in Neonatal Intensive Care, she was tranferred to continued care where she contracted Spinal Meningitis and we almost lost her. However, her stubborn bullheadedness, that still resides in her to this day, was no match for the illness and she is perfectly fine today. She will be 8 years old Sept. 11 of this year. My son was born in Brunswick on Mother's Day May 14, 2000. He was 6lbs 11ozs and perfectly healthy.
I separated from the Navy 16 December 2002 and took a job at an FAA contract tower in Dothan, AL. After working there for a year, I received an offer to work at an approach control facility for the Army (as a DOD Civillian) at Fort Sill, OK... I worked there for 18 months and a position became available in the Dothan area, again working for the Army in the Dothan/Ft. Rucker area at an Army Heliport, so that is where I am today and we couldn't be happier, we absolutely love this area.

"Just discovered your product today while trying to locate classmates ahead of our 50th reunion in 2020. The fact that you did this in a noncommercial manner in a world where everything has a price tag deserves recognition and respect, in my view.
Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
