Today's Featured Biography
Scot Karstens
It’s amazing that we’ve lived half of our lives after high school. I don’t feel that old…. Life has been good for me and my family. We have settled into Midwest living, although we have to get our Northwest fix in on a regular basis. After graduating from Texas A&M, I moved up to Seattle and reunited with David Natali and Armand Ruffin. We had a lot of fun running around downtown Seattle in our mid 20’s. It was in Seattle where I met my wife Queta, and where I started working in sales for Valspar. After 8 years in Seattle, Valspar moved us to the Chicago area. That was in 2000, and we’ve been here since.
We have two boys who keep us running non-stop. Keagan turns 4 in July and Kaden is 2. They are best of friends and rivals in everything they do. We do a lot of refereeing…. Seems like they occupy most of our free time and I’m sure that won’t change for a number of years.
Pretty much my entire “grown-up” working life has been with Valspar. I worked in a number of different sales roles before being asked to take over the company’s marketing efforts a couple of years ago. I never dreamed when I graduated college with pre-med degree that I would end up as a marketer. I am very fortunate to work for a company that provides opportunity and creates employee loyalty.
I am looking forward to seeing those who make it back up for the reunion. It has been a lot of years, and it has been fun reading everyone’s stories on the site. It will be good to catch up, see old friends, show my family around the old neighborhood, and see how much Alaska has changed.
