Kenneth Simpson
started fishing in 1951, gillnetting copper river delta, finished high school 1959,bought my first boat 1n 1959 21 foot gillneter ,1959 to 60 attended U of A fairbanks.met my wife in 60 married her on her birth day feb 9 1961. ben married ever since. made our first home in cordova alaska until 1980. then the family moved to anchorage. my kids all attended Dimond HIGH. ALL MY KIDS finished collage and have their BS DEGREES ONE HAS A-BA degree.all my children live in anchorage.and I-have 14 grand -kids to spoil.1n 1979 we had our first crab- tender-dragger.combination fishing vessel built. in mobile,alabama kids had to go to a catholic school white shirts ties all most killed them. when the vessel was finished the family and i sailed it through the gulf of mexico through the pannama cannal , to alaska, fished the 103 foot Lady simpson for 18 months untill it rolled over and sank in the bering sea enrout to the king crab grounds, another story to be told .all the crew was saved.I then bought another vessel also named the lady simpson. only it floats it is a ,98foot power scow ,schooner house aft just like Ricks boat the Maverick on the Dangerous Catch only mine was built in 1980 all steel will hold around 125,000 pounds of king crad or tanner crab ,250,000 pounds of herring,or halibut or salmon in refrigerated sea water (rsw)still fish this vessel to date.26years in the bering sea.13 years at home.
