Danilo (Danny) Kabigting
Enlisted in the US Navy in 1968. While in the Navy was able to travel and be stationed in Europe North Atlantic Treaty Organization Defense College in Rome, while administratively assigned to the US Embassy Rome, Italy (Rome in '72'73, Naples '73 to '77 and Sigonella (Catania) Sicily in '84 to '88. While in Italy, I travelled extensively in Europe taking every opportunity to "see the world" as the saying goes in the US Navy. I was 19 when I first saw city of Rome during my first naval cruise (deployment) in 1969 and right away fell in love with the place. Such a beautiful city! Who wouldn't be? At 19? I was still a teenager and yet there I was. Besides, I was really interested in world history during my days in Torres High and these experiences was just an icing on the cake while relearning history all over again. It pays to day-dreamed during class presentation!! Imagine. . . seeing the things we were taught in high school and there I was... standing next to the Coloseum, the Vatican, seeing the 7 hills of Rome, Spanish Steps and several tourist sites I've visited. And I am travelling for FREE! Ha ha ha... Such is life. At 19 years old. Also visited Israel 5 times having seen the places Jesus Christ visited. I've travelled also in Greece (Athens, Theselounika, Rhodes Island - Cradle of civilization), Tunisia, Morroco (Casa Blance, Marrakesh and Safi), Turkey (Istambul, Antalya), France (took 2 weeks off to drive and see the country side), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Seville and Rota), England (London), Germany, Swizertland, Austria, Lebanon, Bahrain, Hawaii, Japan, Hongkong, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, and the Middle East Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, Morroco, Israel and Bahrain.
Ashore assignments included Washington, DC at the Pentagon in 1980 to 1984 and Washington Navy Yard in 1989 to 1992. In between assignments, I also enrolled in professional development such as completing numerous Navy technical schools in logistics management, warehousing, and budget programs in the U.S. government. I attended the U.S. Army Logistics Management College in Richmond, Virginia, University of Maryland, Old Dominion College in Norfolk, Virginia, and the U.S Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Californial. After 24 years of active naval service, I retired in 1992 as Director of Logistics , Support Services Divison, Military Sealift Command Headquarters, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, D.C.

Awards are as follows:
3 awards/medals of Navy Commendation Medals, 4 awards/medals of Navy Achievement Medals, 5 awards of Good Conduct Medals and various overseas campaign medals,ribbons and numerous commendation and appreciation letters from Commanding Officers.
After retirement from the Navy, I entered the Federal Service with the Naval Security Group at Fort Meade, Maryland working with the National Security Agency. Currently as the Assistant Supply Officer and head of Support Services Division, Navy Information Warfare Command, Fort Meade, Maryland.

Currently residing in Lorton, Virginia about 20 miles from the White House.
