Enlisted in the Navy in 1982 under the Nuclear Power Program. Worked on submarines as a reactor operator. Taught Math/Physics at Naval Nuclear Power School and got picked up for a commissioning program.
Was sent to the University of North Florida and received a BS in Computer Science. Was selected for flight school and earned my pilot wings in 1997. Flew EP-3 aircraft based in Rota, Spain. Flew combat missions in the former Yugoslavia, Balkans and Iraq. Did a tour aboard the USS Kitty Hawk in Yokosuka, Japan launching aircraft on the flight deck.
Was selected to attend Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where I received my M.S. in Astronautical Engineering. Along my career I managed to pick up a B.S. in Electronic Management from Southern Illinois University as well.
Was stationed in Chantilly, VA at the National Reconnaissance Office supporting communication systems for the US national satellite architecture.
Retired from the Navy in January, 2008. I am currently a consultant to the Director of National Intelligence working for Bell Labs Federal Systems of LGS Innovations.
I am married to the beautiful Melissa Male Jurnock formerly of Bethlehem, PA.
