Today's Featured Biography
Chris King
Hmmmm...where to start??? Ok here goes:
Well, after LHS, I was in the seminary for 6 years but hated the politics and left; I then went into retail and worked at JC Penneys for 13 years between Rochester, Little Rock (AR), & Tulsa (OK). I then went back to school and was certified as a hospital chaplain. That's where we left off at our 10 year reunion....
Since then, I moved to Arkansas in 1989 and was married to Rebecca in 1995. In 2002, Marie came into our life. In 2003, I was nationally certified by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC). I worked as a hospital and hospice chaplain for over 15 years. During that time, I went back to school and got my Masters of Theology degree.
I then switched careers and went into... you'll love this... the guy who HATED school and lived in the band room at LHS went into.... TEACHING full time for College(Philosophy courses like Logic, Critical Thinking & Philosophy) in the evenings and Middle School during the day!! I teach ESL 6-8 grade (immigrant students) Language Arts, World Cultures / US History, & Reading. I also gave up reffing hockey after 13 years (Yep, I was a zebra...hence my email address) & went back into coaching (first hockey, then football and basketball). This upcoming year will mark my fifth season as a middle school football coach and my first season as the Foster Middle School head football coach (football in Oklahoma is like hockey in Minnesota) as well as continuing as 6th grade boy's basketball head coach and 7th and 8th grade boys basketball assistant coach.
What else am I doing? Well, remember my senior superlative as "Worst Driver" UNANIMOUSLY (since i was sick on voting day and couldn't vote against myself)?? Well, I am also employed as an in-car DRIVING INSTRUCTOR for Oklahoma Driving School here in Tulsa!!!! Hey, at least I know all the bad stats and what NOT to do while driving!!
I am also very involved in the Knights of Columbus....remember how I made fun of the guys with the swords as "three Muskateer want-a-bees"? Well, I'm now in the Fourth Degree and regularly dress out in full KofC regalia!
I guess about the only other thing to add about myself is my physical appearance...... remember the dork who posed in the boy's room checking my "perfect" hair after every mod and always being "clean and tidy" looking? Well, I'm now completely bald on top (where I had the most hair) and look very much like my dad!! Except he's still "clean-shaven" and I have a blk mustache and blk goatee.
Well, I guess that's all about me but I hope you will all write and stay in touch with me after the reunion!!! Though I wasn't very popular at LHS, I really miss all of you and think about our high school class often.
Chris
