Today's Featured Biography
Glenn Briggs
An International Graduate Professor Emeritus (Retired) of Business Administration and former Faculty Dean with Webster University's Graduate School of Business & Technology. Also, formerly an Adjunct Professor of Management with BBS College of Management in Bordeaux, France, and Adjunct Professor of Business Administration with the University of Electronics Science & Technology of China (UESTC) in Chengdu, and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE). I have taught regularly (at least three months per year) at the three Webster University campuses in China - Shanghai, Shen Zhen, and Chengdu. When my wife and I returned from an assignment to Chengdu in May of 2018, that made it twenty-five assignments to China, and a total of seven years in-country! Unfortunately, it was our final China posting, and we will miss the country and all of our many friends there greatly.
But Confucius himself was not this old as an educator, and I turned 80 while there and am easily the oldest foreign professor to serve in China! It is very sad to speculate on not seeing our numerous friends there ever again.
We have four children - two girls and two boys - six grandkids, five boys and one deservedly spoiled girl - and several months ago our first great grandchild, a boy, was born in Indiana. The child’s father (Timothy) graduated at the top of his class (Summa Cum Laude) at Wake Forest University, on a full ROTC Scholarship, and is now a commissioned Captain in the US Army. He has earned another full scholarship to earn his Juris Doctorate (JD) Degree at Notre Dame University, where he is now enrolled. His sister Tiffany graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida Gulf Coast University's School of Nursing program, and just finished earning a graduate degree in Nursing at Florida State. She did her internship at Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando, and she is now fully employed as a Neo-Natal Nurse at Nemours Hospital in Orlando, while simultaneously pursuing her Doctorate.
I was raised to Master Mason degree at Lodge Royal Arch 198 in Maybole, Scotland in 1960. I am also a lifetime 32nd Degree Mason in both the York and Scottish Rites, and a member of the Nile Temple Shrine.
I recently finished and published a book that I began several years ago that narrates the story of Jeanne and my romance, from our first meeting in 1966 through the fall of Saigon in 1975 and beyond. It is entitled, "Gifts of Life: Times of Love, of War, and of Miracles." While the book has been published, it is not for sale, but it has been distributed in hard and soft copies to relatives and close friends because it is very personal and in some ways quite sensitive. If interested I can e-mail a soft copy.
I retired from the military (24-plus years) in 1980, having spent 18 of those years overseas, and retired from the Kennedy Space Center (16 years) in 2000. I was a Full Graduate Professor with Webster University for 25 years. My passions are my faith, family activities, travel, music, and teaching, which together formulate a great equation for enjoying life and people.
