Today's Featured Biography
Barbara Schultz Shupe
After graduating from Taylor University with a degree in English, I taught at WTHS for 6 years. I taught English and Journalism and sponsored the school paper and yearbook. My husband also taught there. Fun years.
Dick accepted a job with the Michigan Department of Education, so we moved to Lansing, where we both earned a couple of graduate degrees, had three children, and stayed home with them for several years. Then I began teaching Technical Writing and freshman writing (adjunct staff) at Lansing Community College where I graded thousands (I think) of papers for 21 years. I retired in 1999, happy with my free time and small pension.
Winters we escape the cold of Michigan for something warmer...Arizona, Texas, Northern Florida, Hawaii, and the last 5 years Naples, Florida.
For "hobbies" I try to walk and/or ride a bike nearly every day, read a fair amount, do crossword puzzles, and play at the piano (less than impressively, but I enjoy the challenge). Dick is into golf, tennis, and an exercise routine at a local health club.
We have 5 grandchildren scattered around...3 are in the Marshall Islands for a few years. They and their mom spend Julys with us.
We are truly grateful for the full and satisfying life we have had together.
