Ann,
Sorry to be so long in answering your email. My wife Sandi and I have been in Thailand for the last nine days. We lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand in the 70s; (3 years in CM and 5 years in Bangkok). Our eldest was born in CM.
After high school I puttered around UH for about 3 years seeking direction. Was a music major at first but finally came to the realization that traveling around the world singing wasn’t for me and teaching music was out. [The 2 trips with the Sound of Young Hawaii to Japan helped me see that I was more a home body rather than a vagabond.] Decided to get training in Lubbock, Texas, of all places, at the Sunset International Bible Institute (a two year program). As I was finished I meet a lovely California girl who shared the same life direction, Sandi. We just celebrated 39 years of marriage together, last April.
As I mentioned above, we worked in telling others about Jesus in Thailand and had our two boys in that country (Michael is now 36 and single while John is 34 and married.) After 8 years in Thailand, we decided to finish up our bachelor’s degrees and went again to Texas to Abilene Christian University where we finished in 2 years graduating in ’82. We then worked in Baguio City, Philippines with a new church group and did some graduate work there also at Saint Louis University. We spent six wonderful years there although they were also filled with a People’s Revolution, economic upheavals and several coops.
We moved to the Pacific Northwest to do a church planting in Olympia, Washington. After seven years we moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area where my brother and parents lived. I worked there in telecom in the wholesale billing area while Sandi was working at a flight simulator company that trained pilots from all over the world.
We thought we would settle down there and so bought a house in North Richland Hills, Texas (North Fort Worth). We were members of a wonderful church of nearly 5,000 and got to enjoy big groups as well as small ones. There I was able to be more involved in singing, song writing and recording music as part of one of the three worship teams as well as continue teaching.
After 11 years in North Fort Worth, we believed that Heaven called us to a new adventure in China. So we have been working at Dr. Paul’s Language School in the northern part of China since 2007. For the last two years I have been serving as an elder for the Qingdao International Christian Fellowship.
We love China, the people and our work here.

Thank you and good luck in all your endeavors."
