Donna Myers Constant

I moved to Vermont just before my senior year started. I graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, VT. I started Cosmetology School that following July and grad. from there in March of 1972. I worked as a hairdresser for many years ( up until my son Max started kindergarten)I still cut hair for friends and family as well as volunteer giving haircuts at The Lund Family Center in Burlington. This is a center for women that are pregnant or have young children at risk. I married Leo on Nov. 4,1983 at our home in Waterbury Center,VT. This is a second marriage for both of us. Neither of us had children from our first marriage. I currently work as a paraeducator at a middle school here in Duxbury. I have worked here since the school opened in 1997. I work with children with different learning disabilities. I love what I do. I learn as much from them as they do from me. It is a humbling experience at times and very rewarding. I am very involved with the Teachers/ ESP union here in VT. I organized our 1st Educational Support Professionals (ESP) unit her at CBMS. I am a building representative as well as A Vermont NEA Board member for my area of Central VT. I received the VTNEA ESP award for last year (2010) and went to Las Vegas for the big national convention. It was great meeting people from all over doing great things for their schools and unions. My husband is a service tech for
Blue Flame LP Gas company and has worked at this for over 25 years. He is from Vermont born and raised by parents from Canada and French Heritage. We have 2 grown children. Molly is 26 and lives in Clearwater, FL. She is a nurse at Morton Plant Mease Medical Center. I usually see her twice a year. I miss her a lot and talk to her often on our cells ( Thank God For Cells) Max just turned 24 and has an Environmental Science Degree. He lives here in Vt not far from us.We bult a new home 4 years ago. Down sized and boy is it nice. We already owned 100 +/- acres where our camp is and bought 30 more to connect with that piece and give us some road footage. It is so nice. We can hike and ride the 4-wheelers or snow machines in the winter right from our yard. My son helps me with our organic gardening for which I put up all that we grow for good eating in the winter.We also raise organic chickens for eggs and meat. I started painting a few years ago and have even sold a few pieces,although I usually give them as gifts. Maybe I can produce something for the silent auction for our reunion in September. Because I have family in Florida I get down there once a year. Besides my daughter, my dad lives in Spring Hill. I also have a brother in Marianna and One in Tallahassee. I often wonder what happened to my friends in FL. I have never forgotten you and hold a special place in my heart for all of you. I hope I can get down there for the reunion but getting away in September is a bad time when you work in a school. But you never know what will happen.
I am happy and healthy and living the best way I can. Donna
