Mike Wilson
My family has lived in the Yuma area for just over 100yrs. They settled in Yuma valley. First my dad's parents came in the early 1900's and then my mom's side came out. Both sides of my family came from Oklahoma. We lived in Somerton until I was 13, 1963, I went to Somerton Grammar school all 8yrs. My grandmother (my mom's mother) lived next door. Somerton was a great place in the 50's and early 60's. I was surrounded by relatives. We moved to Yuma the summer of 63. My parents bought a home across from Crane school on Ave C. That's when I got lucky because I would now get to go to Yuma High, one of the best things that ever happened. I was not looking forward to KOFA. I am now the only person left from my family of 6. This is a part of life we must accept.
