10/28/2004 Now & Then Photos
I have begun the process of putting the "now & then" photos up on the page. These will rotate and correspond with the bio of the day. I would love everyone to send in a picture of them now
. . .
The economy's downturn hit my little company that I worked for and they closed the doors. My last day was late October. I have now been picked up by a utility company which included a little increase in pay and has added some stability. My wife and I bought a house earlier this year and have been slowly fixing it up. On our last vacation we went to the Seattle area for her sisters wedding, and in the process I was able to meet up with one of my grade school best friends. He has been working at Microsoft for the last 10 years. I highly recommend the Underground Walking Tour in Seattle if you haven't already done it.
OK, so that girlfriend is now my wife and we are very happy together. Work is still going good. I have a new role model: Cesar Millan. If you have dogs and/or a cat, and you watch one of his shows on Discovery Chanel, then you will see why.
For the latest pictures see smeaver.blogspot.com and follow the links. The page started as a pre-wedding site and is now in the process of becoming a post wedding site.
Corrected a few spelling errors. It's COLD out there. Still working. Learning so much, not just at work either. I have had a girlfriend since July. She has encouraged me to get out of Alaska and visit other places (I have now been to Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin) -side note, the Best Buy up here is much better, but they have better restaurants. I have finally seen the Mississippi and a paddle boat.
Yes, I am also out of my parents house.
Graduated with a BS degree in CS with a math minor from UAA December '05. Was employed before I even finished and started work on Jan. 3 '06. Life has been good so far, I get to play with technology that most people don't even notice or know exist. Part of my job function is to develop programs for PDA devices, this has been a lot of fun and I went out and purchased one of those PDA phones from ACS. Now that I am making money again, things are starting to come together. Now to see what I have planned next . . .
Please feel free to e-mail me.
Right out of high school I went to college (this seemed to be a bad time for me) six years later I have an AA in General Education. I was married Oct 26, 1996, and devoiced Nov 26, 1998 (now we are the best of friends, she is re-married and has two children) I worked for Fritz Co. for six years starting Oct 1, 1996. I watched it be bought by UPS (interesting point here is we were contracted by FedEx) and then about a year later by FedEx. I was making a WHOPPING $13.00 an hour with no increase in site. I cleared my debt, got a cheap car (moved in with parents....*blush*) got student loans, quit the job and am now back in school with a much better attitude at UAA going for a BS in Computer Science with a Math Minor (currently have about 1.0 years to go. I enjoy most helping my class mates and telling all these young'n kids how it was in the old days with computers and dial up 1200 baud modems. The website includes some programs that I wrote and some pictures that I took. Two of the pictures are published in some photography books and can be viewed on www.picture.com
