After Graduation I attended UofA Fairbanks and got my BS in Chemistry. I spent 2 years in Anchorage working for the Corps of Engineers doing environmental testing. I then returned to Graduate School at Penn State University, in 1990 on full fellowship and received my Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1996. Working on my thesis research didn't stop me from attending nearly all the home football games and traveling to the rose bowl with the team.
I spent 2 years as a Post-doctoral Fellow at Arizona State University in Tempe AZ, working on growing optoelectronics on Silicon wafers, before joining Philips in their Product Development division for Lighting.
Since 2003 I an the groupleader for new materials and processing, which is the group I joined in 1998 for Philips lighting. So if you are traveling and see fluorescent lamps in the ceiling or at Home Depot, that have green endcaps (Alto)those came from my research group!
I married a wonderful lady I met in College in 1986, we married in 1993 and have 3 kids, now 4, 5, and 7.(in Summer 2006)
