The CLASS of 1988 is hosting their 20 YEAR REUNION in AUSTIN, TX - NOV 7-9, 2008
Enough responses have come in to determine that the November date works best for more people... just too many babies being born in late September! So November it is. We're going with 7-9 to keep from getting too close to the holidays...
THE PLAN::..
We're renting a house for the entire weekend - large enough to handle letting plenty of us crash there. The owners work at Tinker Air Force base, so we're keeping it close to our roots, so to speak - they are sympathetic to our cause.
We need to know if you are planning to stay at the event or at a nearby hotel. We'll be ten miles from the airport and 5 miles from downtown so there will be plenty to choose from, ranging from $50-250/night. I'll be sending out a list soon.
THE AGENDA::..
Flexible. We are renting a house so we'll have a home base and all the freedom we want to make plans on the spur of the moment. We want to be able to break out into groups of closer friends, or plan larger outings for all of us - the bottom line is we have the choice. And we won't get kicked out if we just want to hang at home base and party on the spot.

Crazy, huh. This one is going to be nuts. It'll be like walking down senior hall. Are you ready for it? Don't worry... quite a few of us are nervous about it, that's natural. We're all feeling it. Just remember that we've got a pretty strong connection and it's going to work out.
This event is being billed as the '88 20 year reunion, but clearly, we've got friends who spill over into '87 and '89. This is NOT an all years or even an 80s era event. It's class of '88 with a few close by friends. Not trying to be exclusionary, just keeping it close to home, so to speak.
THE FINANCES::...
Here's the deal. We're trying to keep this thing inexpensive. A lot of us aren't rolling in the dough. I know I'm not. And that's okay. If you're planning to stay at the event, we're going to go in on a headcount and split the cost of the house. With enough people, it will be way cheaper than a hotel. Right now, I'm guessing it will be about $20-30/night. If you're planning on staying at a nearby hotel, I'll simply ask you to show some love and contribute to the family pot o' dough.
IF finances are difficult, talk to me one-on-one. There are a few of us who are in a situation where managing the flight is about all we can handle. That's okay. We still want you with us. I'll be unveiling some fund raising stuff we can buy (think: Christmas), there's also going to be a donating option online, probably through PayPal. I'll definitely get the word out when we go live with that stuff.
In the meantime, MARK YOUR CALENDARS.

Today's Featured Biography
Vicki Berkey Higgins
After graduation, stayed in Wiesbaden for almost a year. Came back to the States in April '89. Stationed at McClellan in Sacramento, CA where I met David in August, we were married in November. He got out of the Air Force in June of '90 and we moved here to FL where he grew up. Started our family and just forgot to stop after a while ;) I stayed home with the kids until a year before the youngest one started school; then David and I decided to switch places so I went to work and he became 'Mr. Mom'. I worked as an office manager for a chiropractor for not quite two years; we had a falling out and I moved on. Now I am working as an insurance biller for a cardiologist. I have been there for nearly two years now and it's great. Our kids are all doing great in school and very involved in extra-curriculars; they all play ball (Erika's high school softball team made it to the top eight in the state in AA this year, Galen and Logan have been on their Little League All-Star teams for the last four years for Galen and two for Logan, winning the district championship in their age divisions and taking second in sectionals last year); the oldest two are also in the band at school (both play the trumpet like their dad and Erika also plays pretty much any other instrument she gets her hands on), and all four are involved in activities at church (Erika is actually in the Dominican Republic on a missions trip as I'm writing this).
Sometimes I miss the 'good old days' from Wiesbaden, but mostly I'm too busy running all over the place to think about it.
