Today's Featured Biography
Robert Allen
Messed around a lot after graduation. Went in to USMC boot and was medically discharged 3 months later. Was homeless & living from my car 87-89. (Was almost fun, my job let me get a motel room every 3 days or so to bathe. I was a cook at a restaurant which allowed me to eat 2 meals a day for free. The company was not legit and the pay for the legit things was almost nil. For the illegal it was good money, but I was always afraid of jail. Feds closed it all down in 89).
Moved into my parents house in summer of 89. Learned hardware and software. Went to work in 9-89 as a law firm employee. By 92 I was a paralegal at one of the largest firms. Got bored and went back to tech stuff.
Opened my own computer company in 92 and it grew like crazy. In 95 opened a branch in Mexico. In 98 opened an ISP in San Antonio and sold my interest the same year. In 99 sold everything to the Mexico office and became a stay at home daddy.
In 2001 I started a non-profit company to train and assist school kids in a trade. In 2002 the focus changed to the point we started another company doing technical business consulting.
I now have the option of working or being with my kids. No longer do I have to work, a great feeling!
In 2004 we started a new company (coffee distribution --bean and frozen--) which should lead into a new internet coffee house (which we plan to start franchisees after 12 months).
