Bruce Burgess

I was born at Chauncey WV.On March 19,1937 a son was born to Roberta and Elzie Burgess of Chauncey at home.They gave him the name Bruce Edward Burgess. He was name after his great uncle Bruce Ellis of Maysburg WV,and John Edward Lucas of Chauncey wv brother of Roberta.I went to grade school at Chauncey WV .We had a 4 room school there.After 6th grade I went to Omar Jr High at Omar WV. From there I went to Logan High School in east end of Logan WV.On July 20 1954 I left for the USAF Sampson AFB.From there I went to Japan for 2 years. I came back to thr USA on July 20th 1957 and was sent to Warner Robbins AFB at Macon Ga. On Dec.13,1957 I was discharged from the USAF and was assigned to the USAF reserves at Charleston WV. ON Nov.16,1958 I married Opal Jean Lyons sister of Shirley and Ruby Lyons.We moved to Pt Pleasant Wv where i went to work for VAlley Bell Dairy. I left the in Dec 1959 and went to work for Kaiser Aluminum At RAvenswood WV.I was laid off 9 times in a year so I moved back to Logan and went to work for Charleston Linen service. I left the in March 20th and went to Greyhound drivers school at Memphis TN.I went to work for Greyhound and retired because of Diabetes.If you had Diabetes you could not drive. I also worked as a Operation Supv to. Then I went into the ministry and served in all services that the Lord wanted me to.I was a staff chaplain at Thomas hospital for 6 years. I the was a circuit rider Pastor for lots of Churches, On Jan 31 of 2005 I had to leave my post as Pastor at the Truck Stop at Teays Valley. Exit 39 of I-64.Opal and I had a son born on March 21 1968. Bruce Jr Is a career Soldier. He called tonight and said he has beeen out on the Bomb squad with the Bush team.ON August,11 1974 A son was born to us and we Named him Christopher Dale Burgess it means Valley Dweller. Both Opal and I are retired not .Live at Dunbar WV
